Madgeek built a cloud-native system on Microsoft Azure with Android and iOS apps, an admin dashboard, and automated invoicing. The result is a production platform that turns raw sensor data into actionable usage insights and accurate bills for residential communities.

Why apartment water management needed an IoT platform

Apartment communities waste water because residents have no visibility into their consumption. The client — an IoT hardware company — had built smart water meters but needed the software layer: a cloud platform that could ingest sensor data, present consumption insights to residents, and give property managers tools for billing and leak detection. The hardware existed. The intelligence layer did not.

How the smart water monitoring platform works

IoT data ingestion

Smart water meters installed at each apartment unit transmit consumption data to Microsoft Azure IoT Hub. The platform ingests, processes, and stores time-series consumption data with per-unit granularity. Device health monitoring ensures the platform knows when a meter goes offline or reports anomalous readings.

Resident mobile apps

iOS and Android apps give residents real-time visibility into their water consumption. Daily, weekly, and monthly views show usage trends. Comparison features show how a unit's consumption compares to building averages. Wastage alerts notify residents when their usage exceeds normal patterns — catching running toilets, forgotten taps, and other fixable waste.

Property manager dashboard

Property managers see community-wide consumption data, unit-by-unit breakdowns, and automated billing summaries. Leak detection algorithms flag units with consumption patterns that indicate plumbing issues. The dashboard supports multi-property management — a single view across multiple apartment communities.

Automated billing

Monthly billing is generated automatically from metered consumption data, replacing estimated or flat-rate billing. Residents see itemised bills in their mobile app. Property managers can review and approve bills before distribution. Dispute resolution is straightforward because the consumption data is granular and timestamped.
